Panay works as a journalist in the city, leaving her two children to her father back in an aboriginal village on the east coast of Taiwan. One day, as her father falls ill, Panay goes back home. Seeing their land being bought up by the developers and water drying up in their fields, Panay decides to stay and to revive the traditional rice terrace in her village.
